In an excellent start to our title defence, Thames Ladies launched their cross country campaign with a clear victory in the first Surrey League of the season. In uncharacteristic cross country conditions with bone dry ground and 23 degrees, 14 runners completed the Belgrave course on Wimbledon common. There was some fantastic packing by the Thames ladies at the front of the race, where we were led by Lauren Major with a very strong league debut in 4th. She was closely followed by Victoria Barthlemess, Bethanie Murray and Katy Hedgethorne in 5th, 6th and 8th respectively. The A team was ably completed by Amy Aronson making a welcome return to form in 25th.
Showing depth in the club, we were also the first B team home. Rebekah Edgar debuted on her birthday weekend, showing excellent dedication to the team already! She was followed by Anri Cohen, Claire Altmann, Denise Barnett and Jess Davies. Emily Hogg, Anna Garnier, Diane Neil Mills and Esther Huntington provided further support to the team.
Thanks in particular to our runners making their Surrey League debuts; Lauren, Beks, Diane and Esther. We look forward to having you run again! The next race is on November 10th in Nonsuch Park.
We were also hosting the Ladies races, so many thanks to all our volunteers who ensured the courses ran smoothly and results were recorded correctly.
