At Crystal Palace on Sunday, 17 Saltires braved the rain to enjoy the hills of South London. The course was fast, and the steep descent back to the finish on the track was particularly fun. Our Ladies A team finish of 19th was a brilliant result, especially given the quality of the opposition. It was also fantastic to have both a B and C team in there as well, once again out-numbering the Thames men! The Men’s team came in 43rd, with particularly strong runs from Richard Ollington in 17.09 and Paddy Roddy in 17.47.
In terms of individual runs from the ladies, special mention to Liz Stavreski who continued her return to top form to clock our fastest leg of the day (17.51). It was great to welcome Katy Hedgethorne back to the team, travelling all the way from her new base in Plymouth. They were joined by Claire Altmann and Beks Edgar to make up the A team. Also two fantastic runs from our new members Serena and Chloe who definitely made their mark on their debuts.
The cross country season now starts in earnest, with the opening handicap next weekend. We hope some of it will be a little drier!
