The Short Distance Handicap and Challenge Race was the first club run of the new season.
Our 151st season kicked off on Saturday with the Surrey Road Relay Championship which was a great day as always. Seven Thames teams enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather with some fine performances.
Summer is a relatively quieter season for Thames in terms of club races but that didn’t stop Saltires from producing many great performances over the hotter months.
Back in June two brave Thames men, Matt Jones and Ed Catmur attempted one of the classic ultra long distance challenges in the UK.
Thames hosted their annual Parkland Relays event in Richmond Park. A great success, 100 teams enjoyed wonderful weather and after-race catering at the Clubhouse.
At around 4.39 p.m. on Sunday 24th June, Thames H&H reached the source of the Thames at Kemble following an epic two-day adventure.
22 brave and hearty souls stood ready to run in the Greenbelt Relay to maintain Thames honour over the weekend of the 19/20 May. The weekend was hot, but the competition was hotter.
Well done to everyone who ran the London Marathon, the conditions were very challenging this year, it was uncomfortably hot just watching!
