Junior parkrun Weekly Roundup - 28/1/18

At Surbiton, Lucy Molden finished 36th in 11:29 and Edward Molden finished 102nd in 17:15.


Okumusashi Ekiden, Tokyo - 27/1/18

A Cambridge University H&H Alumni team took part in the Okumusashi Ekiden, with four of the six runners being Thames members. It looks like it was a great experience and an incredibly high standard (Matt Leach beat World Championships marathon 9th-placer Yuki Kawauchi on the first leg).

South of England Cross-Country Championships, Stanmer Park - 27/1/18

A brave band of Saltires made the journey to Brighton for the Southern Championships. It was a true test of cross country running with plenty of mud, hills and miserable weather conditions.
The Ladies managed an excellent 6th position with great runs from the whole team. Bethanie Murray was 27th with Ruby Woolfe 28th, Victoria Barthelmess 47th, Liz Stavreski 66th and Vikki Filsell 155th. Katy Hedgethorne (running for her first claim club) was an impressive 16th.
In the Menís race Luuk Metselaar made a very strong Thames debut in 22nd, James McMullan was 68th, Gordon Pearce 110th, Andy Weir 169th, James Chettle 192nd, Tom Greenwood 219th, Richard Hewitt 360th and Iain Sheridan 448th. The team was a very creditable 10th.

Junior parkrun Weekly Roundup - 14/1/18

At Surbiton, despite falling heavily at the start, Lucy Molden picked herself up to finish 42nd in 12:03. Edward Molden finished 97th in 17:54.


Surrey League Division 1, Round III (men), Coulsdon - 13/1/18

The men battled very well in another loaded field. We were third on the day, fairly far behind Kent and Hercules Wimbledon who are pulling out all the stops in an exciting title fight, but also comfortably ahead of fourth club Ranelagh. We remain 3rd in the overall League.
James McMullan was the first Saltire home in 9th with Paddy Roddy 15th, Jim Allchin 20th, Josh Carr 23rd, Martin Shore 34th (3rd V40), Neil Chisholm 41st, Richard Ollington 45th, Ben Reynolds 48th (1st V50), Matt Jones 58th, Paul Cheetham 74th, Nic Gould 88th, Simon Barrett 102nd, Charles Morris 107th, Joe Gale 115th, James Chettle 124th, David Symons 129th, Richard Hewitt 133rd, Ed Catmur 151st and John Bull 171st.

Ladies back on top - 13/1/18

Katy led the way for us once again as we overcame a really strong Clapham Chaser team to win Surrey League match 3 on the Common.

Surrey County Cross-Country Championships - 7/1/18

The big cross-country races of 2018 kicked off on 7th January with the Surrey Championships at a very chilly (but relatively dry) Denbies Vineyard. The ladies went first and took a brilliant silver medal in the team race only 3 points behind Guildford and Godalming. Katy Hedgethorne had another impressive run leading us home in 7th with Victoria Barthelmess close behind in 9th, Ruth Wallace in 17th and Sarah Randles closing the team in 19th. Behind them were Liz Stavreski in 24th, Vikki Filsell in 52nd, Anri Cohen in 61st and Anna Garnier in 62nd.
Next up, the Men were led home by James Hoad who paced it well for an excellent 6th. He was followed by Martin Shore in 27th, Richard Ollington 35th, Paul Cheetham 38th, Matt Jones 41st, James Meiklejohn 50th, Nic Gould 65th, Tom Greenwood 69th, Simon Barrett 75th, David Symons 81st, Ed Catmur 93rd, Rory Spicer 139th and Simon Gardner 144th. We were 5th in the team race.
