London Marathon - 23/4/17

Many congratulations to all Thames runners who braved the 37th Marathon. James McMullan led the way, knocking 5 minutes of his PB to finish in a fine 2hrs 29m 53s for 53rd place. Jim Allchin followed in 244th to register another Thames PB of the day in 2hrs 38m 13s. A clutch of 8 Thames runners all finished in a huddle in the 2hrs 50s, with Ed Catmur finishing in 1080th followed by Edward Green, James Whetman, Anthony Doolittle, Pete Woodburn, Jack Blaiklock, Toby Pearson and Martin Shore. Sarah Hazel was Thames leading lady, finishing 136th in 3hrs07m44s and Jerry Watson (3hrs13m56s) and Frank Dudbridge (3hrs18m50s) closed an excellent day out for the Saltire. More broadly, a number of Thames second claimers raced and registered unique claims to fame. Andrew Lawrence looks to have secured a world record for the fastest ever vegetable in a marathon finishing in 2hrs45m08s and Chris Finill maintained his superb ever-present record to finish his 37th London Marathon in 2hrs57m42s. There are now only 11 members of this elite club and apart from a blip in 2014, Chris has completed every single marathon in under 3 hrs, a phenomenal record.
