National Cross-Country Championships - 25/2/17
Thames Men took on the might of the rest of England in the National Cross Country Champs at Wollaton Park, Nottingham. The course was a glorious mix of sharp hills, slurry bogs, a river or two, and a particularly mean uphill sludge field in the last 400m. There is a special kind of fear which grips the air as 2,000 runners contemplate the task before them. You will be pleased to hear that the Thames team were equal to the task and finished 20th out of 131 teams. Josh Carr led the way finishing 88th in his first race in a Thames vest. James Chettle showed a strong return to fitness in 152nd with Martin Shore not far back in 206th. Both Richard Ollington and Gordon Pearce had the audacity to pass their Captain in the last 400m to finish 268th and 278th respectively with yours truly closing the scoring team in 288th. Andy Weir, 440th, and Iain Sheridain, 795th closed the team in fine style. Great day, great result.
