Thames H&H vs Milocarians AC, Roehampton Vale - 14/2/16

A gorgeous morning was in store for the intrepid band of Saltires that slugged through the quagmire to the start of the match against the Milos, held in conjunction with our Second Sunday 5 event. First mission accomplished in that we outnumbered our guests. With it being the final fixture in the Surrey League calendar yesterday, this was quite an achievement and my thanks to all who ran.
Matt Jones took first place with time to spare. Great support came from Will Cockerell, who looked mighty fine in a Thames vest and David Symons hot on his heels, with the second team captain closing the four to score match.
In the seven-to-score match, the Saltire was also victorious, the remaining scorers being Jonathan Barnett, Vikki Filsell (who had a great run in the Surrey League yesterday), with the team closed by new member Walid Fawaz. Thanks too to Hugh Shields and Jeremy Denny who did wonders for our numbers and who both enjoyed good runs.
We were indebted to the great support of the Pioneers out on the course, my thanks to Ed Catmur, Al Gibbons and Kate Symons for her photo skills. Also thanks to the President who did a fine job all things logistics.
So there we have it, Thames' Second Team Captain is revelling in two match wins in one day and hot on the heels of the Bank of England turnout from the Saltires, it's great to see our numbers swelling at these events. Thanks too to the Milos for bringing a good team and we look forward to welcoming them at future events.
